3. Catch up with your beloved family over a cuppa – some beautiful views add to the occasion.

5. Switch off. With no cell phone reception at Rockwood Forest Lodge, there is no way of being tracked down.
6. Row a boat. Nothing beats an afternoon laze-a-bout on a farm dam.
7. Pack a picnic and enjoy the beautiful grasslands and indigenous forest of Rockwood Mountain Cabin.
8. Challenge yourself. Our own 20km mountain biking track is magnificent or pick up one of the trails from the Karkloof Country Club.
9. Bond with someone new. Most of our loyal staff have been with us since we opened and their warmth in serving you makes it difficult not to strike up a conversation. You’d be amazed at some of their stories of the area!
10. Treat yourself to an organic feast. Stock up with supplies from the Karkloof Farmers Market, season it with some of our fresh herbs grown outside the Farm House and cook on the Big Green Egg.
11. Play golf at Sakabula or Boschoek Golf Course’s.
12. Enjoy being Tarzan or Jane for a day with the Karkloof Canopy Tour.
13. Kit out your home with goods found at the Howick Falls centre.
14. Learn to make natural soaps, cosmetics and medicines with a course at Peter’s Gate Herbal Centre.
15. Bag bragging rights to having visited internationally renowned Ardmore Ceramic Studio. Of course, you must take home the “evidence.”
16. Stock up on some homegrown Natal Midlands wines with Highate Wine Estate.
17. Do good. Visit the Karkloof Conservation Centre for some unforgettable birding – and proceeds go towards conservation!
18. Splurge on a range of canvas travel bags, hats, belts and cotton clothing at Dirt Road along the Curry’s Post Road.
19. Man up! Enjoy a round of clay pigeon shooting and show the guys how it’s done at Kleinbosch Estate.
20. Get cultured. No Midlands visit is complete without having visited the Nelson Mandela capture site and The Truth Store & Cafe.
