The indigenous forest of the Karkloof Nature Reserve is home to a variety of bird and mammal species, like those you’ll find on our bird and mammal lists.

Trail cameras setup around near the hidden waterfall at the heart of the forest have captured numeours mammals and birds. Caracal, Blue Duiker, Bushbuck, Genet are just some of the curious creatures that have been captured on our trail camera.

Did you know that even though wild caracals are curious cats, they are usually very cautious of humans. Caracals are primarily nocturnal and normally start hunting for prey in early evening typically remaining active until sunrise. They prey on many bird and mammal species.
